Redesigning 'heavy is the head
Heavy Is the Head explores fame, power, and vulnerability, positioning Stormzy as a leader in UK grime. The crown, a recurring symbol of his status and responsibility, became the focus of my redesign. I reimagined the crown through a hands-on process, building it physically, photographing it, and enhancing it digitally, to give the artwork a more tactile and human feel that mirrors Stormzy’s authenticity. Each track is represented by a custom designed sticker, inspired by key lyrics and ideas from the album.
The vinyl includes two sticker sheets, one colourful for the uplifting tracks and one black and white for the darker, grime heavy songs allowing fans to personalise the crown and make the album their own.
This redesign celebrates strength, identity, and reflection, showing that while heavy is the head that wears the crown, it’s a crown defined by resilience and truth.
